BONE

      THE BLACK  BONE

Statues tell stories. Yet they do try to keep at least a little secret. In this they resemble living beings, enabling us to interpret the world around us in a most unique manner.
In the long run, humbly, I strive to seek the very essence in things, their innermost principle. It is a treasure deposited somewhere within us. No, the thing is not understanding particularities, details, rather, to establish trust in the principle of existence. We are a part of the complex, unfathomable whole. We look beyond the horizon of imagination and events, in doing so, it is irrelevant whether we look forwards or backwards, to the future or to the past. The retrospectives are sometimes surprising, as the context becomes more blurred with passing time. The river of time has flown freely away and into oblivion.
There is an exception though, concrete and very material findings of non-fossilized wood. What I mean in particular here is subfossil oak, a scarce and inspiring material of which the Black Bone statue has been made. A chance to work with such a unique material is like a prayer, looking for a non-objective, organic form and contents, like a dialogue. After all, the trees whose tops would be blown through by the wind thousands of years B.C. fell lifeless to the ground and have been preserved covered in soil till the present day. These remains of once graceful giants are like relics of long-forgotten happenings, the bones of our predecessors of old. This obvious analogy of graves and bones is close to my heart. The bones invariably and silently relate stories of their past existence. The subfossil oak, thus, is not just material in the commonest sense of the word, but is also a self-contained, intimate legacy of our ancestry.
I regard it as an honour to have a chance to interpret thoughts through this medium. The statue of Black Bone is a proud reminder of our elementary past.  I was in search of an abstract shape, an organic form of expression. Much like the two curves vault and define genetical information, just two curves define the Black Bone making an innermost statement that the unshakeable constants of human existence prevail. It is a statement of existence and ephemerality, of hope, responsibility and eternity. It says that our quest for answers, even our failed attemps to find them are the greatest expressions of personal freedom establishing bases to voice new ideas. Let us contemplate our lives and the eternity shall touch our hearts.

      BLACK  BONE

Řeka času tekla svobodně, až odtekla do zapomnění.
Vždyť stromy, kterým do korun vál vítr tisíce let před naším letopočtem, padly vysílením k zemi a překryté nánosem půdy se uchovaly dodnes.
Sdělení o existenci a pomíjivosti, naději, odpovědnosti a věčnosti.
